Here at Line of Sight Photography we believe in printed photographs. Yes, we take our pictures with digital cameras and the darkroom has been replaced with a computer (thank goodness, because I hated the smells of the chemicals), but we still believe the best way to save your memories is in printed form.
I have boxes of prints, some dating back almost 100 years of my family. I have pictures in those boxes of my mother and father on their honeymoon taken with a brownie. Nothing can replace these. Not even the scans I have made of them. I remember as a kid we used to have a slide show for close friends and family after going on a trip. Everyone would get together and sit in the living room, kids stretched out on the floor, to watch the latest escapades of the Simpson family. Now? Well we send a few pictures via email, or post a link to a gallery. Why? We’re to busy, people live to far away, our schedules conflict, we just don’t have the time because of who knows what. That is kind of sad, but I guess it’s a fact of modern life now days.
BUT, we can still preserve some moments of our families history. Like the beautiful wedding album that may sit in the box in the closet for 20 years. The fact is it’s there and someday the kids, or grand kids will sneak into the closet and go “OMG, look at grandma and grandpa”. They will look through the boxes of photos from years past and think, “wow, look at my great grand parents. I didn’t know they rode bicycles…”
One of the best ways to save your memories is to put them in a fine art album. These albums are custom made by hand with the finest leathers and photographic prints. Prints we know will last a lifetime.

We also are now offering the finest matted image portfolio boxes. These boxes are custom made by hand just for you by one of the best binders in the world. You can store up to 20 of your most favorite matted prints from your session or sessions in the beautiful box. This ensures your photos are protected for years to come.

All that being said, we think it’s important to have the digital files for safe keeping if need be. That is why we do offer you the ability to buy the fully retouched digital files from your portrait session with a minimum print order. We put our images on Archival Gold CD’s and DVD’s for you. The biggest problem I see is that while these disks are supposed to have a 100 year life, we have no real way of knowing how long they will last or if there will even be a way to access the images. We do know that a real photograph, not an inkjet print on photo paper, can last that long, probably longer if properly cared for as in the above examples.
